International Conference XII Siberian Readings "Resources of the Arctic and Siberia: techniques, technologies, sustenance"
October 24-26, 2022, St. Petersburg
October 24-26, 2022, St. Petersburg will host the international conference XII Siberian Readings "Resources of the Arctic and Siberia: techniques, technologies, sustenance", organized by the Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (Kunstkamera) of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Siberian Readings is the largest, standing conference in Russia dedicated to anthropology and ethnography of the peoples of the Arctic and Siberia.
The conference is expected to discuss the following range of key issues:
- Energy processes and resources of the North;
- Materials and technologies used by the northern communities;
- New materials and technologies in the Arctic and Siberia;
- Technologies for processing natural and synthetic materials;
- Infrastructure of Siberia and the North: formation and use;
- Sustenance culture and environmental ethics of the indigenous peoples of the North;
- Ecological changes and dynamics of materiality;
- Techniques of situational adaptation;
- Creative potential in the conditions of resource deficit;
- Recycling practices;
- Digital sustenance technologies
Within the framework of the conference it is also planned to hold round tables and book presentations.
The deadline for submitting applications for participation in the conference is until August 1, 2022.
The participant's application must contain: full name, place of work, position, academic degree of the speaker, topic of the speech and a summary of the report (no more than 200 words). Applications should be sent to the email address of the Organizing Committee email@example.com
Articles prepared on the basis of the reports will be published following the conference in the form of thematic compilations in the peer-reviewed journals of the MAE RAS Kunstkamera and Etnografia.
The deadline for submitting articles for thematic compilations in journals (the size of the paper should not exceed 60 000 characters with spaces) is until December 1, 2022. Articles should be sent to the email address of the Organizing Committee firstname.lastname@example.org. Manuscript submission guide:
