Visit to the Kunstkamera of the Ambassador of the Republic of the Philippines
The new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Philippines to the Russian Federation Mr. Igor G. Bailen and his delegation paid a call on Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (Kunstkamera) of the Russian Academy of Sciences during a visit to St. Petersburg. The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with Russian Philippinists and Filipinos living in St. Petersburg. In addition, Mr. Bailen was interested in new opportunities for cultural cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of the Philippines. At the museum, the delegation was met by members of the Department of Australia, Oceania and Indonesia: Head of the Department Maria Vladimirovna Stanyukovich and Researcher Arina Aleksandrovna Lebedeva. They told the honored guests about the collections of the Filipino objects kept at the MAE RAS, about the ethnographic research of the Philippines and introduced them to the materials of the Russian expeditions of the 19th century in the Philippines and Micronesia, some of which are presented in the new permanent exhibition "Peter's Kunstkamera".
