A unique scientific publication Ethnoexpertise in Taimyr: Indigenous Peoples and Technogenic Challenges (authors: A. V. Golovnev, V. N. Davydov, E. V. Perevalova, T. S. Kisser) has been released as a result of the strenuous research work of a group of staff members of the MAE (Kunstkamera) RAS, headed by its director, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Prof. Dr. Andrei V. Golovnev, to conduct an independent ethnological examination in Taimyr under an agreement with the local public organization Association of Indigenous Peoples of Taimyr of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The research was aimed at studying the impact of changes in the original habitat of indigenous peoples, including as a result of the oil spill at CHPP-3 in the city of Norilsk, on their traditional way of life and economic activity. This scientific study is complex and fundamental, based on field observations, interviews and cyber-ethnographic data. The results obtained are of practical value for the formulation of regional development programs in accordance with the centuries-old experience of resource use in the Arctic, as well as for the development of sustainable models of nature management and minimization of social and ethno-cultural damage under the conditions of technogenic impact.
