Exhibition project “Samuel Dudin — photographer, artist, ethnographer” on Rhodes (Greece)

On October 10, 2010 the exhibition project "Samuel Dudin - photographer, artist, ethnographer" was presented within the frames of the VIII Annual Session of the World Public Forum "Dialogue of Civilizations" (Rhodes, Greece). The project presents in part the preliminary results of the joint Russian-Kazakhstan historical-ethnographic expedition (May 26 to June 9 of 2010). The exhibition which was held within the guidelines of "Ijma‘=Concord" project presents the works by Samuel Martynovich Dudin (1863-1929), an artist (disciple of Ilya Repin), photographer, ethnographer-scientist, traveler and collector. The Saint-Petersburg photo artist Tatiana Fedorova, who participated in the expedition of 2010, presented at the exhibition the series of her works made in Kazakhstan.
The exhibition project became the part of the work of our traditional panel "Civilization space of inter-cultural dialogue" which this year was mostly devoted to the topic, entitled "Eurasian integration: historical and cultural aspects" Scholars from Russia, the USA, England, Italy, Turkey, Holland, Germany, Georgia, Argentina, Bulgaria, Israel, Pakistan and France took part in the discussion.
The exhibition project was realized due to the support of the Center for National Glory and with the participation of "Kodak" and "Yarkiy Mir" companies. Prof Efim Rezvan, deputy director of the Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (Kunstkamera) Russian Academy of Sciences, is the scholarly director of the Rodos exhibition project as well as the author of the exhibition catalogue.
